YOGA + BARRE
We wanted to start a studio in our community where we have established roots and have experienced some of the deepest, most important relationships in our lives. We are hoping to bring our community together to create an environment which allows people to practice together and grow more into who they want to become.
Emily and I have both grown so much mentally and physically through our practices. We want to share these practices with you through our teaching, in hopes that you too will grow and find light within you.
With our hearts we welcome you.
MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS
Amanda was introduced to Yoga at college where, in addition to a BS in Finance, she minored in dance. With 18 years of dance training, an instant love for yoga took root. Passionate about finding a place of healing and peace, she received her 200 hour yoga teacher training (Yoga Alliance Compliant), as well as her barre certification in 2014. Amanda is certified in Reiki levels 1 and 2, as well as restorative yoga, thai yoga and yin yoga. These trainings have been completed under the instruction of Brett Bevell, Shai Plonski, Jillian Pransky and Biff Mithoefer respectively. To further her knowledge, she is in the process of completing her 500 hour teacher training at Kaia Yoga under the instruction of Gina Norman. Learn more about Amanda in her feature on NewHavenBiz.com.
Emily started practicing yoga and barre after she graduated college and fell in love with the way the workout made her feel physically and mentally. Emily taught dance at Studio 1 and Triple Threat while in college as well as performed on the University of Hartford Dance Team.
Emily was a dancer growing up so the barre’s style of exercise came naturally to her. In her senior year of college, Emily ran for Miss Wolcott and won the title in 2011, and then went on to win the Miss Connecticut in 2012. As Miss Connecticut her platform was all about living a healthy lifestyle. At True Blue, she hopes to help create an environment where everyone can have the tools to begin or continue that healthy lifestyle through a loving supportive community, mental exercises, physical exercises and health tips. Emily is barre and pilates certified.

CLASSES: A CLOSER LOOK
This class welcomes all levels of yogis to increase their flexibility and strength in this hour long practice. Vinyasa syncs movement with the breath through a sequence of poses. Each class will allow opportunities to take different modifications and options to accommodate each individuals practice. This flow will warm up the body while clearing the mind through the practice of breath work.
HEATED YOGA TO EXPLICIT HIP HOP
This class takes a different approach to a traditional yoga class, mixing loud hip-hop and R&B music with a challenging flow. This class will leave you feeling energized, guaranteeing a good sweat.
Gentle yoga is a class for yogis of all levels. This class moves at a slower pace deepening each person's practice physically and mentally. This class is supportive to people who are working with injuries or other discomforts through a series of supported balancing postures, standing and restorative postures. It is a class designed to bring each person back to center through guided relaxation with deep releases in a purposeful flow.
This class is a starting point for anyone looking to build their practice. During this time, students can be introduced to yoga and the language while moving through a slower paced practice. This practice will help with the introduction of breath work, pose alignment, and mindfulness. Modifications will be offered to meet each individual's needs.
This class is for the practice of self-care. Restorative yoga helps with mindfulness while working to achieve relaxation mentally, physically and emotionally. Yoga props are used to assist in this slow and gentle practice to help bring the body to a comfortable and safe posture. All levels are welcomes and no yoga experience is necessary.
STRETCH & TONE
With a background in yoga, dance, and barre, we wanted to create a class that combines all of our favorite things. This class is similar to a Pilates or Barre class, using body weight and gravity to strengthen and tone the entire body. In combination, this class will incorporate short yoga flows in between exercises to increase the added benefits of yoga and flexibility.
This workout will strengthen and tone your entire body, focusing on our favorite targets of: hips, thighs, bums, abs and arms. Barre is a low-impact class that protects your joints by avoiding any bouncing or jumping movements. The class is broken into working then stretching each section of the body. This helps create long and lean muscles without any bulking. For this hour you will be focused on the “now”, completely zoned in on your body and building your muscles.
*Private Sessions are available upon request.
